The new Type 2 replaced the 1990 Scania G93M that has been in service since 1999, but will run with the 447 call sign as it has been fitted out as a Pump Rescue Tender (PRT). The existing 1992 Dennis has changed to the 441 call sign, now being solely a Pumping appliance.

Iveco Eurocargo 4x2 fitted with a turbo-charged, 250Hp (176kW)Cummins Tector 6 cylinder, 5.9 litre engine and Allison 5 speed automatic transmission.

Emission Control
(Ad Blue)
Ad Blue is an emission control additive that is injected into the exhaust system to increase the effectiveness of the emission control system. Ad Blue is consumed at a rate of only a few percent of the diesel usage. Ad Blue is a solution of Urea in demineralised water and is not hazrdous.

Brakes
ABS (Anti-lock Braking system) disc brakes are fitted to all wheels.

Body
Constructed from marine grade aluminium and fitted with balanced AS Century 2000 waterproof roller shutters. The bodywork is manufactured by SPEL, Upper Hutt.

Maximum loads for the lockers are:
• “A” lockers – 350kg each side
• “B” lockers – 265kg each side
• Bottom shelves in both A lockers - 150kgs

Foam System
Foam Pro 2002 Direct Injection with 50 litre plastic tank and onboard foam refill pump. Class A Foam on 1 delivery, 2 hose reels and 1 forestry outlet (38mm high pressure)

Main Pump
Rear mounted Darley JME-NH 500 two-stage pump, driven by a Power Take Off (P.T.O.) drive via a shaft from the transmission.
Pump is a high speed, two stage, centrifugal pump that can be operated in parallel (capacity) or 'simultaneous' modes.
The simultaneous mode means the pump can supply both hose reels and low pressure deliveries with their optimum pressures safely and at the same time.
Pump output, in capacity mode is 2000 litres per minute @ 700 kPa.
In pressure mode the low pressure output is approximately 800 litres per minute and high pressure 420 litres per minute. The total output is approximately 1220 litres per minute.

Two ladders are provided on the Type 2 appliance:
• AS ladder mounted on the top deck of the appliance.
